CAIRNGORM SPORTIVES EVENT DETAILS

REGISTRATION

Registration opens between 08:00 and 09.15 on Saturday up at Cairngorm Mountain Centre.  Parking for the event will also be there. Please follow marshal instructions for parking.

At registration you will be required to sign a disclaimer for event insurance.  You will then get your number and an electronic timing dibber. Attach the number to the handlebars so it is easily visible.

THE START

Starts are between 09:30 and 09:45. Just dib and go.

When deciding what time to start please note that:

There is a cut off time of 11:45 at the A939 where the 82km and 158km mile routes split (You need to average more than 18kmph to arrive before the cut off).

If you arrive at this junction after 12:00 you will be directed onto the 82km route and will not be allowed to continue on the 158km route.

The finish for both courses will close at 17:30.  You must arrive at the finish before this time.

ON THE COURSE

Keep your speed down on the descent from Cairngorm.  There are sharp bends and steep drop offs.  All roads are open to traffic so ride with care. Please allow other traffic to pass.  You must follow the Highway Code.

At the junction of the B9153 (from Carrbridge) and the A95 you will be directed onto the cycle path. You must follow the cycle path to cross the A95 and continue along the cycle path to the feed station at Boat of Garten.

There is first aid cover and there will be a broom wagon sweeping up at the back.

FOOD & DRINK

There will be four stations who will provide bananas, food and water.

Nethy Bridge (82km route out and back and 158km route out)

Glenlivet (158km route)

Grantown (158km route)

Boat of Garten (158km route).

Be careful when entering and exiting these stops.  Look out for those behind you and for other traffic.

You must also ensure that you start with sufficient drinks on board and some food in your back pocket!

If you retire from the event you must tell a marshall and return your dibber.

THE FINISH

You must dib at the finish.  There will be free hot food, cake and tea/coffee at the finish.

Professional sports massage will be available for donations to charity.

Finish certificates will not be available on the day but can be downloaded from the SportIdent website with the final results.
